(Ashland, OR) Standing Stone Brewing Company was recognized for on of its house specials on June 1 - sustainable business practices. The family-owned establishment was one of eight recipients of the State of Oregon Sustainability Award, selected from 75 businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. Gov. Kulongoski and Sec. of State Bradbury presented the awards. "As [the] award winners demonstrate, Oregon is pioneering efforts to create more sustainable business structures, attracting investment and economic opportunities to the state," Kulongoski said.

For a more casual meal, the Standing Stone
Brewing Company, 101 Oak Street, (541) 482-2448, is open every
day for lunch and dinner, serving pizza ($8.75 to $10.25),
burgers ($5.50), soups, salads and desserts, including marionberry
cobbler à la mode ($4.25). The décor in the
former auto service garage is simple and industrial. Live
music some evenings and Sunday afternoon. Dinner for two,
with beer, $30.
